adding to that, a few of the bigger beer gardens do NA taps in summer but they're seasonal. j-sports in ebisu used to have one during their rooftop thing, not sure if they still do. also check the asahi super dry bar in ginza, they sometimes run their zero on draft. if u're into the craft scene, watering hole in meguro has a rotating guest tap that hits NA occasionally, and the staff actually know what they're doing. honestly the real move is asking for a shandy or a hop water instead, most places will make something work even if it's not on the list

huh i didnt know yona yona had that on tap, good find. most places here treat NA as an afterthought, but i've seen a few craft spots in shimokitazawa carry stuff from iwatech or the zero alcohol line from hitachino. try the beer bars around koenji too, they rotate taps and sometimes have a dry hop NA that's actually decent. if u're desperate, the tower records cafe in shibuya has a couple of options but it's more of a sit down vibe than a bar. honestly the tap list changes weekly so ur best bet is to just ask the bartender if they've got anything local and alcohol free, they're usually chill about it

yeah the tap thing is rare here tbh. if u're near kichijoji, check out the craft beer market branches, they usually have one or two alcohol free options on their big wall of taps, not always labeled clearly so ask. also the "beyond beer" brand from japan actually shows up at some izakayas now, like the ones that cater to the after-work crowd, but it's usually canned not draft. honestly the best luck i've had was at a tiny standing bar in shimbashi, they did a homemade hop soda thing that was basically an NA gose, no idea if it's still there but the owner was super into experimenting

if u have a costco membership the kirkland thick cut is the move, 4 packs of 500g for around 2500 yen and it crisps up proper in a cold pan. for smaller runs, precce in azabudai hills & the basement at isetan shinjuku both carry imported US & danish brands in the chilled case, just read the label for "thick cut" or "smoked" and not "loin". also worth knowing japanese bacon is often wet-cured so pat it dry before frying or it steams instead of crisping

kaldi coffee farm is hit or miss but their smoked bacon from denmark shows up pretty regular, the 200g pack runs about 600 yen. what actually works better for me is asking the butcher counter at peacock or life to slice the block bacon thick, like 5mm, they do it for free and it crisps way better than the pre-packed stuff. also fwiw cheap bacon crisps faster, the fatty supermarket kind at 300 yen a pack works fine if u cook it from cold in a dry pan and pour off the fat as it renders.

tbh the gyomu super store brand bacon is surprisingly decent for crisping up, its not thick cut but if you cook it low and slow it gets pretty crunchy. the key is the dry cure vs wet cure thing, wet cure steams. also check hanamasa if you have one nearby, they sell big packs of american style bacon thats actually smoked and firm.
