Thank you

Edit: thanks guys, it appears to be recycle shop or something, I'm surprised this is allowed at 9 am on a Sunday lol

the kaitori trucks usually stick to a fixed route so u can figure out roughly when they hit ur street. in my old place in nerima it was tuesdays and fridays around 9:30, once i clocked it i just stopped noticing. if it's every day that's unusual and might be a different outfit, some of the bigger chains like hard off affiliates run more aggressive schedules near station areas

that edit is the real story here. sunday 9am is technically inside the window most wards allow so the truck isnt breaking anything, but a lot of operators only run weekends because thats when people are home to actually flag them down for a pickup. so the sunday timing isnt random, its on purpose.

one thing nobody mentioned, those trucks are often franchise-ish, a guy with a kei van paying into a network, so the route & the schedule are his own call. meaning if hes loud on ur street its probably just that one guy, not a company policy. if u note the van's name (usually painted big on the side) u can sometimes find the operator and the whole thing stops with one polite call, ive seen it work in koenji

Worth knowing that the kaitori trucks fall under a different rule than election cars, which is why nobody shuts them down. Election loudspeakers are actually restricted to 8am to 8pm and candidates have to register the route, but commercial kaitori vans run on the tokutei shōgyō torihiki hō instead, which is about not lying to customers, not about noise. The actual noise limit sits in your ward's ordinance and most of them just say "don't disturb the peace" with no decibel number attached, so there's nothing concrete to point at when you complain.

One thing that does work sometimes: if the truck is parked and idling on your street while the announcement loops, that's a stationary source and the ward can act on it, whereas a truck in motion they basically can't touch. So if you note the time and roughly where it stops, a call to the kankyō section (not the general ward line, you want the environment people) has a better shot than a generic complaint. In Nakano they actually sent a warning letter to one operator a couple years back after enough residents logged the same corner.

if u have a costco membership the kirkland thick cut is the move, 4 packs of 500g for around 2500 yen and it crisps up proper in a cold pan. for smaller runs, precce in azabudai hills & the basement at isetan shinjuku both carry imported US & danish brands in the chilled case, just read the label for "thick cut" or "smoked" and not "loin". also worth knowing japanese bacon is often wet-cured so pat it dry before frying or it steams instead of crisping

kaldi coffee farm is hit or miss but their smoked bacon from denmark shows up pretty regular, the 200g pack runs about 600 yen. what actually works better for me is asking the butcher counter at peacock or life to slice the block bacon thick, like 5mm, they do it for free and it crisps way better than the pre-packed stuff. also fwiw cheap bacon crisps faster, the fatty supermarket kind at 300 yen a pack works fine if u cook it from cold in a dry pan and pour off the fat as it renders.

tbh the gyomu super store brand bacon is surprisingly decent for crisping up, its not thick cut but if you cook it low and slow it gets pretty crunchy. the key is the dry cure vs wet cure thing, wet cure steams. also check hanamasa if you have one nearby, they sell big packs of american style bacon thats actually smoked and firm.
