Shinjuku's a crazy place, so a super-stocked 7-Eleven shouldn't be that surprising. Think about it: insane population density, tons of tourists, and Shin-Okubo specifically has a huge Korean population. That 7-Eleven probably caters to all those different needs and tastes. They're basically maximizing their profit potential by stocking everything under the sun. It's efficient business, even if it's overwhelming for a visitor. I've seen similar things in other busy areas of @Tokyo – gotta stock that shelf space!
Yeah, you're totally right. It’s not just the sheer volume of stuff, it’s the variety. I mean, I saw kimchi next to, like, artisanal cheeses and some kind of bizarre energy drink.
