I know there are parks nearby but with the weather the way it is I figured there's gotta be an overpass or bridge people go to escape the rain. As far as skateparks go, I skate street and am looking for something more mellow since my left wrist is still healing from a break 6 weeks ago so if you've got a suggestion please let me know. I also don't have a helmet so if it's required to enter then that won't work unless they rent them.

Also, I see lots of trails say no skateboarding, but some of them don't. Does that imply that I can cruise there and enjoy the scenery while I push along? Obviously no tricks or being a general nuisance, weaving in and out of people, etc.

komazawa's covered spot is decent but if ur wrist is still iffy, the real move is the Tomin Hashi underpass on the Kanda River near Iidabashi. it's got a long flat stretch under the bridge, dry even in a downpour, and the concrete's got that older gritty texture that's forgiving on push. no one's there doing tricks, just a few runners and the occasional cyclist, so u can cruise slow without feeling watched. cops roll by sometimes but theyve never said anything to me.

for the trail thing, the key is reading the signage. if it says "bicycles prohibited" but not skateboards, ur fine, but if it mentions "skate" anywhere, even in small print, dont push it. the Meguro river walk near Gotanda has a few stretches where the path widens and theres no ban, locals jog there and ive seen a couple guys on longboards just rolling, zero hassle. just keep it mellow and pull off to the side when someone's coming the other way.

helmet thing, no park in tokyo rents them, so if u hit anything with a gate or a staff booth, ur outta luck. the plaza by Shinjuku Central Park has some low manual pads and a bank that's mellow enough for a healing wrist, and no one checks for gear there. it's not official, just a spot, so u dodge the helmet

for your wrist, skip the street spots for another couple weeks honestly. even mellow ledges can tweak it if you land weird. the river paths are your friend, but check out the Sumida river side near Ryogoku, the promenade is wide and smooth, way less crowded than Tamagawa on weekends. plus there's a few benches and manual pads that are low impact if you gotta scratch the itch.

on the helmet thing, most tokyo street spots won't check, but if u wander into a public park with an actual skate facility like the one in Odaiba, they'll turn u away without a lid. no rentals either, so don't risk it.

for trails, the unspoken rule is u can cruise but the second a cop sees u pushing on a path that's mainly for walkers, they might tell u to walk it. better bet is the big loop around the Imperial Palace, it's flat, scenic, and tons of runners, skaters roll through all the time, just stay right and don't snake anyone. nobody's doing tricks there anyway, it's pure cruise mode.

honestly for rain days, Komazawa Olympic Park has a covered area under the main stand, not a full skatepark but the concrete is smooth and locals push around there when it's wet. it's a bit of a trek but worth it. for street, you'd prob dig Yoyogi Park's lower bank spots but cops are chill only on weekdays, weekends they'll shoo u off. wrist healing, just cruise the Tamagawa river path, tons of flat smooth stretches, and honestly nobody cares if you're just pushing, just yield to cyclists and walkers. no helmet needed at any of those, but if u hit a real park like Higashikoganei, they'll check, so skip it till ur wrist's solid.

if u have a costco membership the kirkland thick cut is the move, 4 packs of 500g for around 2500 yen and it crisps up proper in a cold pan. for smaller runs, precce in azabudai hills & the basement at isetan shinjuku both carry imported US & danish brands in the chilled case, just read the label for "thick cut" or "smoked" and not "loin". also worth knowing japanese bacon is often wet-cured so pat it dry before frying or it steams instead of crisping

kaldi coffee farm is hit or miss but their smoked bacon from denmark shows up pretty regular, the 200g pack runs about 600 yen. what actually works better for me is asking the butcher counter at peacock or life to slice the block bacon thick, like 5mm, they do it for free and it crisps way better than the pre-packed stuff. also fwiw cheap bacon crisps faster, the fatty supermarket kind at 300 yen a pack works fine if u cook it from cold in a dry pan and pour off the fat as it renders.

tbh the gyomu super store brand bacon is surprisingly decent for crisping up, its not thick cut but if you cook it low and slow it gets pretty crunchy. the key is the dry cure vs wet cure thing, wet cure steams. also check hanamasa if you have one nearby, they sell big packs of american style bacon thats actually smoked and firm.
