So about two weeks ago, I stupidly lost my phone on a night out in Shinjuku. Met a group of tourists from the UK who treated me to one too many shots.

End up blacking out and woke up on the train nearby Kita Senju (anyone know how tf I managed to ride from Shinjuku to Kita Senju lol??). Anyways when I woke up I was devastated to find my iPhone 11 had completely vanished. I assume I lost it somewhere on the train cause I always use my mobile Suica card.

This has been a total nightmare as I've been locked out of all my accounts due to two-factor and I've lost all my pictures of my last few years in Japan :(

Does anyone have any advice or experience in retrieving a lost phone?? I've already checked with JR and metro lost and found, and I filed a report at the Shibuya police station. Not sure where to go from here.

Thanks for any input!

ah man that sucks, honestly the train lost and found is usually pretty good but after 2 weeks it's prob gone. if you had find my iPhone on you could still try tracking it from a friend's phone or icloud.com, sometimes people turn them in late. also check the koban near kita senju station, not just shibuya, cause that's where you woke up.

Honestly, if you had a My Number card or any other ID linked to your phone, sometimes people turn them in to the local ward office, not just the police. Might be worth checking the lost property section at the Adachi Ward Office since you woke up near Kita Senju. Also, if you haven't already, try posting on the "Tokyo Lost and Found" Facebook group, people there are pretty active and sometimes tourists post about handing things in before they leave the country.

yeah the kita senju ride is a classic mistake, that's the end of the hibiya line so you just passed out and rode it all the way north. honestly after two weeks your best bet is to check the lost and sale shops around akihabara and nakano, phones that don't get claimed end up there pretty quick. also if you used suica on your phone, check your suica history on a computer or friend's phone - sometimes it'll show the last station you tapped out at, which might narrow down where you actually lost it

if u have a costco membership the kirkland thick cut is the move, 4 packs of 500g for around 2500 yen and it crisps up proper in a cold pan. for smaller runs, precce in azabudai hills & the basement at isetan shinjuku both carry imported US & danish brands in the chilled case, just read the label for "thick cut" or "smoked" and not "loin". also worth knowing japanese bacon is often wet-cured so pat it dry before frying or it steams instead of crisping

kaldi coffee farm is hit or miss but their smoked bacon from denmark shows up pretty regular, the 200g pack runs about 600 yen. what actually works better for me is asking the butcher counter at peacock or life to slice the block bacon thick, like 5mm, they do it for free and it crisps way better than the pre-packed stuff. also fwiw cheap bacon crisps faster, the fatty supermarket kind at 300 yen a pack works fine if u cook it from cold in a dry pan and pour off the fat as it renders.

tbh the gyomu super store brand bacon is surprisingly decent for crisping up, its not thick cut but if you cook it low and slow it gets pretty crunchy. the key is the dry cure vs wet cure thing, wet cure steams. also check hanamasa if you have one nearby, they sell big packs of american style bacon thats actually smoked and firm.
