Any recommendations for places to buy one at a reasonable price? Was thinking donki or a sports store in general, but any specific locations y'all could vouch for would be great. Also would appreciate any spot recs to play. Set on yoyogi, but lmk πŸ‘

If you're not fussed about brand, the 100 yen shops actually carry soft foam discs that are fine for casual toss, tho they warp fast in the sun. For a real one I'd skip the big chains and check Kichijoji's Sunroad shotengai, there's a little sports shop tucked near the entrance that had Innova discs cheaper than Xebio last time I looked.

On spots, Yoyogi gets windy in the afternoon which makes throws annoying. Komazawa Olympic Park has open lawns and way fewer people competing for space, and the ground is flatter. Just bring a friend or you'll be chasing the disc solo.

For actual playing, the JFA (Japan Flying Disc Association) runs pickup sessions at Odaiba's West Promenade on weekend mornings, and people are happy to lend a disc if you just show up. There's also the Tokyo Ultimate meetup that rotates between Komazawa and Shinozaki, mostly on Saturdays. Buying-wise, Kanda's Jimbocho side is a dead end, but the Tokyu Hands outdoor floor in Shinjuku does carry a few Innova molds if you're already near Yoyogi and don't want to detour to Ochanomizu.

Sports Authority at Shinjuku Takashimaya and the Xebio in Shinjuku Southern Terrace both sit close to Yoyogi, so you can grab a disc on the same trip. I'd pick a 175g driver over the heavier max weight ones if you're mostly throwing in the park, the lighter disc is way easier on the arm for casual toss.

For playing, the north lawn at Yoyogi works but the tree line eats discs, so a bright color helps. Shinjuku Chuo Park near the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building has a small open field that's usually empty on weekday evenings, decent for a quick session without fighting the weekend crowds.

if u have a costco membership the kirkland thick cut is the move, 4 packs of 500g for around 2500 yen and it crisps up proper in a cold pan. for smaller runs, precce in azabudai hills & the basement at isetan shinjuku both carry imported US & danish brands in the chilled case, just read the label for "thick cut" or "smoked" and not "loin". also worth knowing japanese bacon is often wet-cured so pat it dry before frying or it steams instead of crisping

kaldi coffee farm is hit or miss but their smoked bacon from denmark shows up pretty regular, the 200g pack runs about 600 yen. what actually works better for me is asking the butcher counter at peacock or life to slice the block bacon thick, like 5mm, they do it for free and it crisps way better than the pre-packed stuff. also fwiw cheap bacon crisps faster, the fatty supermarket kind at 300 yen a pack works fine if u cook it from cold in a dry pan and pour off the fat as it renders.

tbh the gyomu super store brand bacon is surprisingly decent for crisping up, its not thick cut but if you cook it low and slow it gets pretty crunchy. the key is the dry cure vs wet cure thing, wet cure steams. also check hanamasa if you have one nearby, they sell big packs of american style bacon thats actually smoked and firm.
