Any tips on the best place to go? I'm in the Asakuksa area but could travel in an hour window (during my break).

I work 6am-3pm, with a break at 9-10am. Hotel checkout is 10am and I'm not booking another night.

Any suggestions for a quiet and relatively comfortable place to spend 5 hours working? Ideally not spending a significant amount of extra money on this also. I just want somewhere relatively quiet where I won't be ushered out after a few hours.

My thoughts are: - Coffee shops (but must be relaxed atmosphere) - Library (no idea about how to access as foreigner) - Manga Cafe (honestly seems like the best bet) - Some sizable building with a comfy chillout space

I'm wondering if there's somewhere that's free that'd be a perfect fit. Luckily I don't need the privacy of meetings or anything, ideally just somewhere with WiFi where I can have a fairly anonymous experience

honestly if you just need wifi and a table for free, check the Asakusa Culture Tourist Information Center right by Kaminarimon. the top floor has a lounge area with views and outlets, nobody checks how long you stay. first come first served though and it can fill up

for a paid option that's not a manga cafe, try the Sakura Hostel's cafe area on Asakusa-dori. they let you hang out if you buy a drink, usually pretty quiet during the day and the wifi code is on the receipt. about 400 yen for a coffee and you're set for hours

honestly the manga cafe idea is solid but if you wanna switch it up, try the Asakusa Public Hall on the 7th floor of the Asakusa View Hotel building. it's a free lounge area with some seating and a nice view of the skyline, not many people know about it. wifi is included in the building but might be spotty, so have a backup.

the Taito ward office on Higashi-Asakusa has a public rest area on the first floor with outlets and vending machines. it's not glamorous but it's free and quiet, plus the staff wont bother you as long as you look busy. just bring your own snacks if you're hungry

for a change of pace, the Sumida Park riverside benches are great if the weather's nice and you don't mind working outside. there's free public wifi along the river from the city, and the view of the sky tree is a plus. not ideal for screens in direct sun but the shade spots are fine until mid afternoon

i'd actually say look into the tsukiji outer market area cafes instead of staying in asakusa. there's a tiny place called coffee shop gallery near the old market that opens at 7am and has a back room with outlets and solid wifi, mostly older locals reading newspapers so it's dead quiet. you can nurse one drink for a couple hours no problem, then grab a cheap bowl of kaisendon for lunch during your break. the 20 minute ride from asakusa on the ginza line is worth it for the change of scenery and better coffee tbh

You'll want to look for packages labeled "streaky bacon" or "American-style bacon" at places like National Azabu or Nissin World Delicatessen in Azabu. I've found the stuff at Kaldi Coffee Farm is hit or miss, so check the fat-to-meat ratio before buying.
