Do most places around Ueatsushima and the Kuzunoki tree take cards, or should I carry cash, and which ATMs let foreign cards withdraw without a fuss?

7-Eleven ATMs, most konbini take foreign cards.

arrow_drop_up 5 arrow_drop_down

yeah konbini ATMs are the easy fallback. fwiw Japan Post ATMs at bigger post offices work too and often have shorter queues. just avoid the standalone machines in arcades, theyre hit or miss with foreign cards.

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

Shinsei Bank ones in FamilyMart too, they take foreign cards.

arrow_drop_up 3 arrow_drop_down

good to know, didn't realize they expanded that

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

Lawson ATMs too, same card support.

arrow_drop_up 4 arrow_drop_down

one catch is the 7bank machines cap withdrawals around 100k yen per go, so big cash needs means multiple pulls. Aeon ATMs at MaxValu supermarkets also take foreign cards and tend to be quieter.

Getting a residence card at Osaka immigration 2026

My employer says I pick it up at the immigration bureau after landing, but I can't tell if I need to book anything online first or just show up with my passport and COE. Anyone done this recently and know what the actual queue is like at the bureau?

heads up the card itself gets mailed to your registered address later, so sort your juminhyo at the ward office first or the address field stalls. also grab the paper they hand you at airport, its useless once u lose it

arrow_drop_up 4 arrow_drop_down

tbh the address thing trips ppl up more than the queue, get the juminhyo done the same week u land or the card just sits there

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

the card comes by simple registered mail, so someone has to be home to sign for it, which catches people out

arrow_drop_up 5 arrow_drop_down

yeah & keep that paper somewhere safe, not a random pocket

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

yep & that little paper is basically ur zairyu card until the real one shows up, so don't lose it before the ward office visit

arrow_drop_up 0 arrow_drop_down

also snap a photo of that paper the same day, since the airport copy fades & ward offices sometimes squint at it

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

laminated copy in your wallet, lasts longer

You don't book anything for the initial card issue. You land, get the landing permission sticker at the airport, then go to the Osaka Regional Immigration Bureau in Minamihorie (near Sakuragawa Station) with passport, COE and the disembarkation card. Go early, doors open around 9 and the B1 counter queue builds fast, so 8:30 arrival saves an hour. Bring a book and expect a half day.

Second this. Bring the 4,000 yen revenue stamp for the card fee.

8:30 helps, B1 gets brutal after 10
