Hachioji food scene, where to eat?

I'm heading to Hachioji in about 4 months and want to start planning my food adventures. Any must-try spots or hidden gems I should add to my list? I'm heading to Hachioji in about 4 months and want to start planning my food adventures. Any must-try spots or hidden gems I should add to my list?

If you're into soba, Hachioji has a solid tradition of it since the area's known for good water. I'd check out Sobadokoro Hachiyo near the north exit, they make their noodles in-house and the tempura set runs around 1500 yen. For a proper sit-down meal without the chain vibe, there's a small izakaya called Torikizoku on the east side that does grilled chicken skewers for 350 yen each, but get there before 6 or you'll be waiting.

honestly the yakiniku scene around hachioji station is underrated. there's a spot called yakiniku king that does all-you-can-eat for like 3000 yen at lunch, but the quality is solid for the price. if u want something more lowkey, the ramen alley in the basement of the celeva building has a shop called ramen jiro hachioji that's a local favorite, expect a 15 min wait at peak times.

also dont sleep on the street food stalls near hachioji shrine during the weekend, they have this grilled mochi with soy sauce that's way better than it sounds. imo skip the touristy izakayas on the main drag and head to the side streets off minami-guchi for the real stuff

You should hit up the curry spots around Hachioji, there's a place called Spice Cafe that does a killer Keema curry with an egg on top for under a grand. The lunch rush can get crazy so try to go around 1:30 or so.
