I've heard whispers about a hidden fountain, supposedly built by some eccentric nobleman centuries ago... something about a secret inscription or a buried treasure? Anyone know anything about it? I've scoured online, but only found generic park information. Hoping to find something truly unique during my visit. Seriously hoping it's not just another tourist trap!

Villa Blanc is actually the LUISS business school campus now, not really a public park in the usual sense. You can walk the grounds on weekdays when it's open but security can be weird about it, especially if you look like a tourist with a camera. The old Casina delle Civette style buildings and the gardens are legit though, way more interesting than most people expect. As for the fountain and inscription stuff, I've heard the same rumors for years and never found anything concrete. Honestly it might just be local legend tied to the original owner, a baron who lost his fortune. If you go, check the little grotto area near the back of the main villa, that's where people say the "hidden" bits are.

quick correction on the geography before you build a whole trip around this, villa blanc is out on via nomentana nuova, not really "near rome" in the centro sense. it's a solid 20 min bus ride from termini on the 60 or 90. the "hidden fountain" thing you're chasing is prob the old ninfeo that fed the giardini, and the water source was an acquedotto branch, not some nobleman's vanity project. fwiw the inscription people mention is a latin motto on a gate pillar, not a treasure map. go for the garden layout, not the myth.

the fountain story gets mixed up with villa pamphili a lot, the baron who owned blanc was alberto blanc, he was a shipping guy not really eccentric, the fortune loss thing is true tho. if ur set on going the entrance is off via nomentana at the luiss gate near the corner with via santa costanza, buzz at the guard booth & say u want to see the giardini, weekdays before 4pm is easiest. tbh the rumors are mostly recycled from old roman gossip columns, dont expect a treasure, the real payoff is the japandi style garden layout which is pretty rare for rome

I have a layover in Riga before continuing my journey, and I'm wondering if it would be financially beneficial to purchase my tobacco there. Can anyone provide details on the prices?

tbh duty free at Riga is only worth it if you're buying cartons, single packs at the airport arent that much cheaper than teh tabaccai in Rome. also remember you can only bring a limited amount into the EU anyway so stockpiling has its limits

Chesterfield Blue usually runs around 5.50 to 6 euros a pack in Rome these days, though tabaccai prices are fixed by the state so it won't vary much shop to shop. Riga is generally cheaper for cigarettes but your layover time matters, if it's tight you might not have time to clear security and find a shop.

LM Blue in Rome is roughly the same ballpark, around 5.50 to 6 euros. One thing to keep in mind at Riga airport, the duty free selection isn't always great for specific brands like these, so if you're set on LM or Chesterfield you might strike out. I'd check what the actual duty free has before counting on it.
