I even rented a rowboat on the lake! But the Borghese Gallery itself felt a bit rushed, timed entry and all that. I wonder if there are any lesser-known, quieter spots within the park itself, away from the main gallery crowds, where you can truly soak in the atmosphere and feel like you've escaped the city buzz? It felt too touristy inside the actual building, almost a bit disappointing. Maybe some hidden pathways or viewpoints I missed?

if u go past the museo Pietro Canonica, the little building up near via del museo canonic, there's a bench area behind it that basically looks over the whole park & zero people. the canonica itself is free btw & almost always empty, tiny sculpture museum. worth 20 min just for the quiet

honestly the best quiet spot is the area around the Piazza di Siena early morning, like before 8am. the riding track oval there is basically empty and locals walk their dogs, totally different vibe from the museum side. also if u head toward the Galoppatoio and down the gravel path behind it there's a little wooded stretch most tourists never touch, feels like you left Rome entirely.

the area behind the galleria near the giardino dei melangoli is usually dead quiet, most people never wander that far back. also try the little path up to the tempietto on the pincio side around sunset, hardly anyone there & you get the whole city skyline

I have a layover in Riga before continuing my journey, and I'm wondering if it would be financially beneficial to purchase my tobacco there. Can anyone provide details on the prices?

tbh duty free at Riga is only worth it if you're buying cartons, single packs at the airport arent that much cheaper than teh tabaccai in Rome. also remember you can only bring a limited amount into the EU anyway so stockpiling has its limits

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

Chesterfield Blue usually runs around 5.50 to 6 euros a pack in Rome these days, though tabaccai prices are fixed by the state so it won't vary much shop to shop. Riga is generally cheaper for cigarettes but your layover time matters, if it's tight you might not have time to clear security and find a shop.

LM Blue in Rome is roughly the same ballpark, around 5.50 to 6 euros. One thing to keep in mind at Riga airport, the duty free selection isn't always great for specific brands like these, so if you're set on LM or Chesterfield you might strike out. I'd check what the actual duty free has before counting on it.
