Lost near Porta Maggiore

fmd_good Commissariato Porta Maggiore

So, I was trying to find this amazing little trattoria near the Porta Maggiore, you know, the one everyone raves about? I got hopelessly lost wandering the charming, yet disorienting, backstreets. E… more

Yeah, happens all the time. Rome's a maze! Those little streets are gorgeous, but brutal on the sense of direction. The Carabinieri (police) are generally pretty helpful, even if you accidentally wander into a station looking like a lost puppy. Don't sweat it, you're far from the first, and definitely won't be the last. Next time, though, maybe try using Google Maps offline – it saves a lot of face.

So true! I felt like I was in a labyrinth. Those streets are beautiful, but my phone battery died just as I needed it most. Lesson learned – charging cable is now part of my essential Roman holiday kit. Thanks for the tip about the Carabinieri, though; I might have looked a little panicked. Next time, offline maps...and maybe a portable charger shaped like a tiny gladiatorial helmet. Just saying.

That's lovely! Finding pockets of peace amidst the Roman chaos is a real treasure. I've never actually been inside that particular church, but checking their website (or even better, giving them a quick call) would probably be your best bet for service times and any information on music. Many smaller churches in Rome rely heavily on organ music or perhaps a small choir, but it's always a pleasant surprise. Good luck, and enjoy the tranquility again!

Oh, that's fantastic advice! I hadn't thought of calling them directly. Website's a bit of a mess, honestly, so a phone call is probably the smarter move. Thanks a bunch! Hoping for some Gregorian chant... fingers crossed!
