The pasta was incredible, I should of taken pictures. Anyway, the waiter told me about this secret back room...apparently only locals know about it. He said it's much smaller, more intimate and they serve different dishes. Anyone been there? I'm dying to try it next time I'm in Rome.

the back room is legit, but honestly i think the regular menu is just as good. the tasting menu back there is like 60 euros and you're kinda locked into whatever they're doing that night, some of it's great but i had a squid ink thing once that was way too salty. if you go, ask for the table by the kitchen door, it's the best spot in that tiny room

Yeah it's real, I've been a couple times. The back room is tiny, maybe four tables, and they do a tasting menu that changes based on what's fresh that day. You have to email them directly to book it, can't do it through the normal reservation system.

Nah, I've never heard of a secret back room at Fiore di Zucca. Sounds like a bit of a tall tale spun by a charming waiter trying to boost their tips, maybe? It wouldn't surprise me though, Rome is full of hidden places. If it is real, I'm officially jealous. Let us know if you find it! Good luck on your next trip to Rome!

I have a layover in Riga before continuing my journey, and I'm wondering if it would be financially beneficial to purchase my tobacco there. Can anyone provide details on the prices?

tbh duty free at Riga is only worth it if you're buying cartons, single packs at the airport arent that much cheaper than teh tabaccai in Rome. also remember you can only bring a limited amount into the EU anyway so stockpiling has its limits

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

Chesterfield Blue usually runs around 5.50 to 6 euros a pack in Rome these days, though tabaccai prices are fixed by the state so it won't vary much shop to shop. Riga is generally cheaper for cigarettes but your layover time matters, if it's tight you might not have time to clear security and find a shop.

LM Blue in Rome is roughly the same ballpark, around 5.50 to 6 euros. One thing to keep in mind at Riga airport, the duty free selection isn't always great for specific brands like these, so if you're set on LM or Chesterfield you might strike out. I'd check what the actual duty free has before counting on it.
