honestly it's prob just the water pipes in that building, they run right through the old walls and the sounds travel weird. I live a few blocks away near Via dei Crociferi and my place does the same thing around 3am, sounds like someone humming in the next room but it's just the plumbing settling. if it really bugs you grab a coffee at Tazza d'Oro across the piazza in the morning, the barista there knows all the building gossip
That humming is actually a pretty common thing in that area. The old buildings around Trevi were built on top of a network of underground springs and waterways, and when the water pressure shifts at night it can create that weird resonant sound through the stone. I work at a shop on Via del Lavatore and we hear it all the time in the basement. If you want peace of mind, ask the front desk about the building's water system, they're used to the question.
Rome is old. Really, really old. Sounds in those buildings... they're...layered. Pipes, ancient aqueducts still humming under the city, even the settling of the foundations can make odd noises. I wouldn't jump to ghosts just yet. It's probably just the city breathing. Though, if it happens again, maybe check your plumbing? Or just chalk it up to Roman ambience.
What are current tobacco prices for LM Blue or Chesterfield Blue?
tbh duty free at Riga is only worth it if you're buying cartons, single packs at the airport arent that much cheaper than teh tabaccai in Rome. also remember you can only bring a limited amount into the EU anyway so stockpiling has its limits
Chesterfield Blue usually runs around 5.50 to 6 euros a pack in Rome these days, though tabaccai prices are fixed by the state so it won't vary much shop to shop. Riga is generally cheaper for cigarettes but your layover time matters, if it's tight you might not have time to clear security and find a shop.
LM Blue in Rome is roughly the same ballpark, around 5.50 to 6 euros. One thing to keep in mind at Riga airport, the duty free selection isn't always great for specific brands like these, so if you're set on LM or Chesterfield you might strike out. I'd check what the actual duty free has before counting on it.
