I've heard whispers of a secret artisan workshop tucked away in its alleyways, maybe a leather-worker, maybe something else entirely. The kind of place tourists rarely stumble upon. Anyone know of any hidden workshops, or little-known artisan spots that really capture the spirit of the place? I'm hoping to find something truly authentic, not just another tourist trap. Really looking forward to getting lost in its streets!

Monteverde's got a vibe, alright. Finding those tucked-away workshops is half the fun! I wouldn't rely on anyone giving away exact locations, that defeats the purpose, right? Just wander, get lost, and keep your eyes peeled for tiny signs, maybe a glimpse of leather or tools through an open doorway. Trust your gut. The best finds are the accidental ones. And seriously, getting lost in Monteverde is part of the charm. Enjoy!

That's exactly the kind of advice I was hoping for! I love the "get lost and enjoy it" approach. I'm picturing myself stumbling upon some amazing artisan working away in a tiny shop, completely unexpectedly. Sounds perfect. Thanks!

I have a layover in Riga before continuing my journey, and I'm wondering if it would be financially beneficial to purchase my tobacco there. Can anyone provide details on the prices?

tbh duty free at Riga is only worth it if you're buying cartons, single packs at the airport arent that much cheaper than teh tabaccai in Rome. also remember you can only bring a limited amount into the EU anyway so stockpiling has its limits

Chesterfield Blue usually runs around 5.50 to 6 euros a pack in Rome these days, though tabaccai prices are fixed by the state so it won't vary much shop to shop. Riga is generally cheaper for cigarettes but your layover time matters, if it's tight you might not have time to clear security and find a shop.

LM Blue in Rome is roughly the same ballpark, around 5.50 to 6 euros. One thing to keep in mind at Riga airport, the duty free selection isn't always great for specific brands like these, so if you're set on LM or Chesterfield you might strike out. I'd check what the actual duty free has before counting on it.
