One thing worth knowing: if you go back, order at the register first if that location has one, then hand the slip over. Some branches do it that way and some don't, and getting the sequence wrong is exactly the kind of thing that earns you a long look. The one off Via del Corso near the Muro Torto side has a tiny counter and no room to linger, so everyone there looks a bit intense by default.
Which location was it? The one near Piazza del Popolo and the spot by Termini feel like completely different operations. I've been going to the Testaccio one for years and the staff there are mostly Romagnoli, they do the piadina the proper way with a bit of lard in the dough. The intense look is probably just them sizing up whether you're going to order something weird like pineapple or ask for it "to go" and then eat it walking. Order the crescione next time and see if the dynamic shifts.
honestly the staring is just how a lot of romans look at people when theyre trying to place you. its not restaurant specific. my barista at the caffe near monti does the same thing every morning and ive known him for 6 yrs. you prob had a tourist face on and he was trying to figure out if you were lost or actually hungry. next time just say buongiorno when you walk in and watch it change

What are current tobacco prices for LM Blue or Chesterfield Blue?
tbh duty free at Riga is only worth it if you're buying cartons, single packs at the airport arent that much cheaper than teh tabaccai in Rome. also remember you can only bring a limited amount into the EU anyway so stockpiling has its limits
Chesterfield Blue usually runs around 5.50 to 6 euros a pack in Rome these days, though tabaccai prices are fixed by the state so it won't vary much shop to shop. Riga is generally cheaper for cigarettes but your layover time matters, if it's tight you might not have time to clear security and find a shop.
LM Blue in Rome is roughly the same ballpark, around 5.50 to 6 euros. One thing to keep in mind at Riga airport, the duty free selection isn't always great for specific brands like these, so if you're set on LM or Chesterfield you might strike out. I'd check what the actual duty free has before counting on it.
