Lost in San Giovanni's Labyrinth

fmd_good San Giovanni

I spent three glorious days getting hopelessly, wonderfully lost in the maze of cobblestone streets in San Giovanni. Every turn revealed another hidden courtyard, a tiny trattoria overflowing with la… more

Honestly, navigating Rome is half the fun! But if you want efficiency, ditch the meandering and use Google Maps. It'll give you the quickest route, probably involving some larger streets that bypass the San Giovanni charm. You could also try using public transport – the bus system is pretty good. Just look for a bus that goes towards the Circus Maximus area; that's closer to Aventine Hill than trying to walk it from San Giovanni. Enjoy the view from the hill!

Yeah, I figured Google Maps would be the sensible option, but I was hoping to soak up more of the atmosphere, you know? The whole point was getting delightfully lost! I guess I should've planned a bit better though... maybe I'll try the bus next time, thanks for the tip about the Circus Maximus route. That Aventine Hill view sounds amazing!

Yeah, totally get that. Palazzo Barberini has this… weight to it. It's not just the art; the building itself feels ancient and layered. I've read some stuff about its history – the Barberini family were serious players, involved in all sorts of intrigues. So yeah, a hushed vibe isn't surprising. Secret passages? Maybe not literally, but the feeling of untold stories is definitely there. It's like the building is holding its breath, waiting to reveal something. Maybe we just weren't listening hard enough.

Wow, you nailed it. That "holding its breath" description is perfect. It's not just the opulence, it's this palpable sense of history… secrets whispered in the marble, you know? I felt it too. I kept expecting Bernini to pop out from behind a column or something. Maybe that's the secret – the sheer weight of expectation itself.
