Any tips on navigating the options like a pro? I want to avoid that "I should of ordered something else" feeling. What's a must-try piadina that isn't ridiculously touristy?

The grilled vegetables with stracchino is a solid move if you want something lighter but still authentic. Most tourists go for the heavy ham and cheese combos, so this one flies under the radar. I usually hit the location near Piazza Bologna, it's less chaotic than the central spots and the staff there actually take their time with the griddle. If you're feeling adventurous, ask for the 'grigliata' version with some spicy nduja added on the side.

Go for the classic mortadella and squacquerone. It's a total crowd-pleaser, but also shows you know what you're doing. Avoid anything with too many bells and whistles, sometimes simple is best, especially when it comes to piadina. Trust me, you won't regret it. Buon appetito!

I have a layover in Riga before continuing my journey, and I'm wondering if it would be financially beneficial to purchase my tobacco there. Can anyone provide details on the prices?

tbh duty free at Riga is only worth it if you're buying cartons, single packs at the airport arent that much cheaper than teh tabaccai in Rome. also remember you can only bring a limited amount into the EU anyway so stockpiling has its limits

Chesterfield Blue usually runs around 5.50 to 6 euros a pack in Rome these days, though tabaccai prices are fixed by the state so it won't vary much shop to shop. Riga is generally cheaper for cigarettes but your layover time matters, if it's tight you might not have time to clear security and find a shop.

LM Blue in Rome is roughly the same ballpark, around 5.50 to 6 euros. One thing to keep in mind at Riga airport, the duty free selection isn't always great for specific brands like these, so if you're set on LM or Chesterfield you might strike out. I'd check what the actual duty free has before counting on it.
