Wandered into San Lorenzo in Panisperna almost by accident, wasn't even looking for churches, just getting lost in the charming side streets. The quiet inside was amazing, a total contrast to the bustling city outside. The frescoes were breathtaking, but honestly, the thing that stuck with me was the smell... this incredibly subtle, sweet incense scent that lingered even after I left. It was unlike anything I've ever smelled before, almost... magical. Anyone know what kind of incense they burn there? I'd love to find it somewhere.

That's a lovely memory! I've been to San Lorenzo in Panisperna many times and I've never noticed a particularly strong scent, but Rome's churches do often have this subtle, almost indefinable, old-stone-and-incense aroma. It's probably a blend of things, the age of the building itself, the materials used, maybe a specific type of candle wax... It's not just one incense, I suspect. You might have a better chance finding a similar scent by searching for "antique church incense" or "old world incense blends" online. Good luck with your search! It sounds like you had a truly special experience.

I have a layover in Riga before continuing my journey, and I'm wondering if it would be financially beneficial to purchase my tobacco there. Can anyone provide details on the prices?

tbh duty free at Riga is only worth it if you're buying cartons, single packs at the airport arent that much cheaper than teh tabaccai in Rome. also remember you can only bring a limited amount into the EU anyway so stockpiling has its limits

Chesterfield Blue usually runs around 5.50 to 6 euros a pack in Rome these days, though tabaccai prices are fixed by the state so it won't vary much shop to shop. Riga is generally cheaper for cigarettes but your layover time matters, if it's tight you might not have time to clear security and find a shop.

LM Blue in Rome is roughly the same ballpark, around 5.50 to 6 euros. One thing to keep in mind at Riga airport, the duty free selection isn't always great for specific brands like these, so if you're set on LM or Chesterfield you might strike out. I'd check what the actual duty free has before counting on it.
