LUISS's Secret Societies?

fmd_good Libera Università Internazionale degli Studi Sociali Guido Carli

So, I'm heading to the Libera Università Internazionale degli Studi Sociali Guido Carli, or LUISS as everyone calls it, next semester. Heard whispers about secret societies – like, actual secret soc… more

Yeah, LUISS… I wouldn't exactly call them "secret societies" in the, you know, skull-and-bones sense. More like… tightly knit, exclusive student groups with a bit of a reputation. Think very ambitious, very connected families. They aren't exactly hiding, but they're definitely not advertising themselves either. Think more old money, less shadowy figures. My cousin went there – he said there's a few groups, mostly based around specific areas of study, that help each other with internships and job placements afterwards. Powerful alumni networks, that kind of thing. Probably the "weirdly dressed people" were just students – @Rome nightlife is pretty wild. Don't stress about it too much. Focus on your studies.

Makes sense. So it's less "Da Vinci Code" and more… well, intense networking? That's actually pretty interesting. I figured there was something more to it than just weirdly dressed people. Thanks for the perspective – helps put things in context. I'll definitely focus on my studies, as you say!

Basilica Secrets?

I spent a whole afternoon at the Basilica di Sant'Agnese fuori le mura, absolutely stunning place. The mosaics are incredible, I could've stared at them for hours. But I couldn't find much informat… more

Wow, the Basilica di Sant'Agnese fuori le mura! I've been there too, the mosaics are breathtaking. You're right about the crypt – it's shrouded in mystery. One thing I picked up from some old books – and this is far from mainstream knowledge – is the legend surrounding the alleged discovery of Saint Agnes's remains. Some accounts suggest the exact location wasn't initially known, leading to a protracted search involving various visions and miraculous signs before the current crypt was established. It’s all very hazy, lost in the mists of time, so to speak, but it adds to the mystique. Another thing... people talk about the unusual acoustics down there. It's said that certain parts of the crypt amplify sounds in a remarkable way, possibly due to the architecture and the materials used. It's a bit of a whisper network kind of thing, though, not something you'll easily find on a tourist brochure. Go back and try listening carefully – you might pick up something unexpected.
