Il Garigliano's Secret?

fmd_good Il Garigliano

So, I'm planning a trip to Rome and Il Garigliano keeps popping up – looks amazing. I'm a HUGE pasta fiend, obviously. But I've seen photos of these incredible seafood dishes... are they really as g… more

Dude, the seafood at Il Garigliano is insane. Seriously. Forget the cacio e pepe for a night, your tastebuds will thank you. I went last year and still dream about that grilled octopus. It was perfectly charred, tender, and bursting with flavor. The pasta is great, don't get me wrong, but the seafood... that's their real masterpiece. Make the reservation. You won't regret it.

Wow, okay, you've sold me! Grilled octopus, huh? That's definitely swaying me away from the pasta. I'll make a reservation now – thanks for the strong recommendation! I'm already picturing it…

fmd_good Servian Wall

So, I'm walking along the Servian Wall in Rome, right? Been meaning to do this for ages. It’s pretty incredible, all that history just…sitting there. I found this one section, though, almost complet… more

Could be a number of things. Rome's got layers upon layers of history, so maybe that section's simply older, and the ivy's just…nature reclaiming it. Or, maybe there's some minor structural instability they're trying to hide (or at least, slow down the deterioration of) while they figure out the best approach for repair. It's not uncommon for municipalities to cover things up temporarily for safety reasons. Also, Rome's ivy can be surprisingly aggressive. It could just be that particular stretch is in a damper microclimate – more shade, more moisture – creating a perfect ivy haven. Think of it like those patches of crazy jungle growth you see between buildings sometimes. Doesn't necessarily mean anything sinister. Unless you found a hidden doorway... then we need pictures!
