LUISS's Secret Societies?

fmd_good Libera Università Internazionale degli Studi Sociali Guido Carli

I'm heading to the Libera Università Internazionale degli Studi Sociali Guido Carli, or LUISS as everyone calls it, next semester. Heard whispers about secret societies – anything from debating club… more

Honestly, the "secret societies" at LUISS are mostly just really, really dedicated student groups. Think hyper-focused debating clubs, intense political action committees – the kind that plan protests down to the last detail. There's nothing actually secret, it's more about the level of commitment. If you want to boost your resume, joining one of these groups would probably help more than finding some shadowy cabal. Just look at the student organizations' list on the LUISS website; the ones with really active social media probably have the most engaged members. You’ll be fine, don’t worry about pasta sauce sacrifices.

Gregorian Uni Library?

fmd_good Pontifical Gregorian University

So I'm heading to the Pontifical Gregorian University next month for a conference. Heard the library there is something else – supposedly one of the best theological libraries in the world. My questi… more

Wow, that library is seriously impressive. It's a beast, no doubt. For early 20th-century papal pronouncements, you'll want to hit up their online catalog first. Seriously, don't even think about wandering in blind. They almost certainly have a digital index—that'll save you hours of frustration. Once you've got a list of call numbers (and you will need call numbers), go to the reference desk. Librarians there are usually amazing at helping navigate those kinds of massive collections. Explain your research and what you've found online—they'll know exactly where to point you. Think of them as your personal papal pronouncement sherpas. Security? Just be polite, have your conference badge visible, and don't act shifty. Act like you belong there; you're a researcher, not a thief. A simple "Buongiorno" and a smile go a long way. You'll be fine.
