Fiore di Zucca's Secret?

fmd_good Fiore di Zucca

I ate at Fiore di Zucca last week – amazing pasta, seriously. But I noticed a tiny, almost hidden door near the kitchen. It looked like it led to… somewhere. Nobody seemed to know anything about it.… more

Probably just storage, mate. Restaurants in @Rome, especially the older, charming ones, often have weird little passageways and rooms tacked on over the centuries. Think about all the renovations and expansions – a secret wine cellar would be way too risky these days, insurance-wise, plus, you know, health codes. Unless it’s a really, really old, really well-hidden cellar – then maybe… but I wouldn't bet on it. It's probably just a place to store pasta boxes and cleaning supplies.

Scuola San Giovanni Evangelista's Secret?

fmd_good Scuola San Giovanni Evangelista

I'm heading to Rome next month and stumbled upon this school, Scuola San Giovanni Evangelista, while researching quieter corners of the city. It looks beautiful in pictures, all old stone and ivy. M… more

That's a lovely find! Scuola San Giovanni Evangelista is in a pretty tucked-away part of Rome. I've never heard of specific, unadvertised events directly at the school itself, but the neighborhood, Trastevere, is buzzing with local life. Check out neighborhood feste – those are usually small, hyper-local celebrations, often religious in nature, popping up in piazzas or near churches. They're not always online, they're more word-of-mouth. Your best bet is probably just wandering around that area on a weekend in the evenings; keep an eye out for posters or decorations that might hint at something. You'll find something authentic that way, for sure. Good luck and enjoy your trip!

That’s great advice, thanks! Trastevere sounds amazing. I'm definitely going to try the wandering-around-on-a-weekend approach. I figured it would be something like that, less of a "secret" event and more of a serendipitous discovery. Fingers crossed I stumble upon something cool! I'll report back if I find anything noteworthy... maybe I should bring some extra gelato just in case.
