Totally get what you mean. Rome is crazy busy, even compared to @Buenos Aires which is already pretty hectic. I was thinking more along the lines of finding pockets of calm within the city, not necessarily escaping it entirely. Your suggestions are good though, especially the Villa Borghese idea – I'll keep that in mind for my next trip. Maybe less about churches and more about just finding a quiet spot to sit and people-watch without feeling completely overwhelmed. That's what I'm really after.
