San Giovanni's Secret?

fmd_good San Giovanni

I'm heading to San Giovanni next week, buzzing to finally explore this neighborhood in Rome. I've heard whispers of hidden courtyards and artisan workshops tucked away from the main streets. My quest… more

Just wander. Seriously. Get lost. San Giovanni isn't that big, and the best way to find those hidden spots is to ditch the map, ignore the main drags, and just pick a little side street that looks interesting. Trust your instincts. You'll stumble on stuff. Maybe not artisan workshops specifically – those are often a bit more… elusive – but you'll find charming squares, tiny trattorias, and views you wouldn't see otherwise. Early morning, before the midday sun really blasts it, is your best bet. The light's softer then, and you'll get less harsh shadows inside. Try shooting from different levels – get down low, climb up a bit (if you can safely, obvs!), to get varied perspectives. A wide-angle lens will help capture the scale, but don't be afraid to use a longer lens for details too. And honestly? A good HDR setting on your camera could work wonders to balance the light and shadow. Think about using a tripod for sharper shots, especially in low light. Good luck! Hope your photos are amazeballs.
