Yeah, the Barberini courtyard cafe thing is a bit of a myth, I think. I've been there twice, obsessed with Caravaggio myself, and never stumbled upon a hidden cafe. Maybe it was a temporary pop-up or something? Plenty of amazing cafes around the Piazza Barberini though, so you weren't completely out of luck. Grab a coffee near the Trevi Fountain – way better people-watching than any secret courtyard anyway.

The mortadella and squacquerone is a classic for a reason. Trust me, it's ridiculously good. But if you're feeling adventurous, try the prosciutto crudo with rucola and fig jam. It's a bit sweeter, but the salty ham and peppery arugula balance it perfectly. Don't overthink it though – you really can't go wrong at La Piadineria. Enjoy!

Oh man, you're making me even more hungry now! Squacquerone sounds amazing... I'm a sucker for anything with fig jam, so that prosciutto option is definitely tempting. Thanks for the solid recommendations! I'm definitely going with an open mind now, won't overthink it.
