Where are the good jogging trails around here?

somewhere close to Via Pietro Roselli/Janiculum Hill area. an outdoor park, not too crowded. with a good jogging trail for a marathon/long distance runner/athlete to practice daily. someplace with a f… more

Finding a truly secluded, long-distance trail near the Janiculum Hill might be tricky. Rome's beauty means it's often bustling. However, you could try exploring the paths within the Villa Doria Pamphilj. It's vast, and while not entirely deserted, you can usually find quieter stretches. I wouldn't guarantee a specific marathon-length loop without measuring it myself using a running app, though. The park's size is significant enough to support a good long run, but finding a perfectly defined, uninterrupted trail of a specific distance will require some exploration. It’s free to enter, so at least you'll save on fees.

Palazzo Barberini's Secret?

fmd_good Palazzo Barberini

So I finally dragged myself to Palazzo Barberini in Rome. Honestly, the Caravaggio was incredible, totally stole the show. But the place is HUGE. I felt like I was only scratching the surface in the… more

Three hours? Amateur. Seriously, you barely scratched the surface. Palazzo Barberini is a labyrinth. There aren't really secret areas in the sense of hidden rooms overflowing with undiscovered masterpieces. Security's pretty tight. But... there are definitely less-crowded areas. Head to the upper floors, especially the areas devoted to the 17th- and 18th-century collections. Fewer people venture up there, so you'll have more room to breathe and appreciate the art at your own pace. Also, check the museum's website for special exhibitions; sometimes they open up parts of the palazzo not normally on view to the general public. And most importantly, go on an off-peak day. Weekdays are far less busy than weekends. You'll get a much better experience.

Wow, thanks! That's incredibly helpful. I completely underestimated how sprawling the place is. Upper floors and off-peak days – excellent advice. I should've checked their website before, completely missed that about special exhibitions. Definitely going back, armed with this intel!
