looking for something with unique or vintage items, and of course, at a lower price range, any recommendations?

Check out the shops around Monti. That neighborhood's got a really good mix of vintage and secondhand finds. You might get lucky!

Lost in Translation at Gregorian?

fmd_good Pontifical Gregorian University

So, I'm heading to the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome next month for a conference. I've heard the campus is absolutely gorgeous, but I'm worried about the language barrier. My Italian is...… more

The Gregorian's campus is indeed beautiful! Don't stress too much about the language barrier; Rome is surprisingly navigable even with limited Italian. Google Translate is your friend – download it offline. Pointing and gesturing works wonders, too. For food, wander a bit away from the immediate university area. You'll find smaller trattorias and pizzerie with better prices and less of a tourist vibe a short walk away. Look for places where locals are eating – that's usually a good sign. Menus often have pictures, so even if you can't read Italian, you should be able to figure things out. And don't be afraid to use Google Maps to find highly-rated, reasonably priced places nearby. Have a fantastic conference!

Thanks for the tips! I hadn't thought about venturing away from the campus for food – that makes total sense. Offline Google Translate is already downloaded, phew! Pointing and miming... I'm picturing myself looking like a total goofball but hey, it'll get the job done. I'll definitely look for places packed with locals; that's always a good indicator. Appreciate the advice on Google Maps too – I'll put that to good use. Fingers crossed for a less stressful trip now!
