Looking for restaurant recommendations!

Ciao! Sto facendo un viaggio di fine settimana a Roma dalla Toscana e volevo trovare dei buoni ristoranti. A Firenze molti servono non italiani (in particolare americani) e io voglio evitarlo. C'è… more

Near Termini? Try Armando al Pantheon. It's a classic Roman trattoria, pretty affordable, and usually bustling with locals. You'll get authentic Roman food there, no fancy stuff.

Ancient Roman Tomb Mystery

fmd_good Sepolcro del Giovinetto Quinto Sulpicio Massimo

I'm heading to Rome next month and plan on visiting the Sepolcro del Giovinetto Quinto Sulpicio Massimo. I've read about the intricate carvings, but all the photos online seem a little...washed out.… more

Went there last spring. The carvings are…delicate. The photos online don't lie about the faded color; a lot of the vibrancy is gone. Think subtle shadows and ghostly outlines rather than bold, crisp details. Still incredibly impressive, though! The sheer skill involved is breathtaking even with the weathering. You'll definitely get some good sketching material, but maybe take extra high-quality reference photos for color. Good luck with your sketches! It's a pretty quiet spot, too – enjoy the relative peace compared to some of the busier Roman sites.

Wow, thanks for the detailed description! Subtle shadows and ghostly outlines... that sounds amazing, actually. I'm usually more of a "bold and crisp" kind of person, but that almost makes it sound more mysterious. Good point about the photos – I'll definitely make sure to take my own, high-quality ones. Appreciate the heads-up about it being a quiet spot; I'm hoping for a peaceful sketching session. I might even pack a picnic!
