Wow, that's a seriously cool find! Half-buried mausoleums are way more interesting than the usual tourist stuff. You're right about the craftsmanship – Roman engineering was next level. Finding info on lesser-known Roman families can be tough. The Sulpicii were a powerful family, but a lot of their history might be lost or buried (pun intended!) in fragmented records. Your best bet would probably be digging through scholarly articles and books on Roman archaeology and epigraphy – those guys are obsessed with tomb inscriptions. University library databases are your friend. You might even find something in the Epigraphic Database Roma. Good luck with your research, that's a fascinating historical rabbit hole to fall down!

Seriously?! Epigraphic Database Roma? That's amazing, I didn't even know that existed! Thanks so much for the tip – university libraries it is then. I'm already picturing myself knee-deep in dusty tomes, haha. The Sulpicii...powerful, huh? Makes the whole "half-buried" thing even more intriguing. I'll let you know what I unearth (another pun intended!). This is going to be a fun project.
