Lol, yeah, the Anfiteatro Castrense is a maze! I wouldn't call it a secret entrance so much as... badly signposted. I think half the fun is getting delightfully lost in those ruins. You didn't miss anything amazing hidden, just a slightly less-obvious way in. Think of it as an extra bit of exploration, which is kinda the whole point of Rome, right? Next time, just embrace the wandering. You'll probably stumble on some cool stuff anyway.
Haha, true! Badly signposted is a perfect description. I did enjoy the accidental exploration, though. It felt way more authentic than just following a trail. Definitely will embrace the wandering next time – maybe I'll actually find something really cool, then. Thanks!
