Headed to Najaf next month - any hidden gems?

I'm planning a trip to Najaf next month and wanna find some cool spots off the beaten path. Anyone know any lesser-known places or local favorites I should check out? if you're here on a friday morning, the al-kufa camel market is something else. it's about 15 minutes by taxi, chaotic and dusty but you'll see traders from all over the south. grab some freshly made samoon from a stall near the entrance, they're like 500 iqd each and way better than anything in the city center. just don't wear sandals, learned that the hard way

honestly skip the tourist stuff and head to the old suq near the shrine, not the main one but the one tucked behind the gold market. there's a guy there who's been repairing copper pots for like 40 years and he'll show u his workshop if u ask nice. also the hill of peace overlook at sunset is way better than the crowded spots, it's just past the cemetery entrance on the left. bring cash tho, most places there don't take cards

Most visitors head straight to the Wadi al-Salam cemetery, but the old quarter behind the shrine has some real character if you wander off the main drag. There's a small, family-run tea house on al-Sadiq Street that serves a mint tea with a bit of cardamom that I haven't found anywhere else. Just be ready for the narrow alleys to get a bit confusing, it's easy to lose your bearings back there.
