Suman Nagar's Hidden History?

fmd_good Suman Nagar

I'm heading to Suman Nagar next week, excited to explore the area. My aunt, who lived there for years, always talked about its vibrant street food scene and the amazing chai stalls... but she never m… more

That's a cool question! Suman Nagar's history isn't exactly plastered all over the place, like some fancy museum. You'll probably find more by just wandering around and talking to people than reading dusty old books. Look for older buildings – maybe they'll have little architectural details that hint at a past era. Also, those chai wallahs are amazing at gossip. A casual chat with a few of them might unearth some local legends or family stories. Think about it; they've seen generations come and go. Plus, those street food vendors themselves are often part of the area's living history. Their families might have been selling food there for ages. Good luck with your digging; sounds like a fun project!

That's a fantastic suggestion! I hadn't thought about the chai wallahs – brilliant! I'll definitely try chatting them up. And you're right, the street food vendors... their stories could be gold. Maybe I'll even try to get some photos of those older buildings – if I can find them! Thanks for the tips, I feel much more confident about tackling this now.

Suman Nagar's Secret Life?

fmd_good Suman Nagar

I spent a week in Suman Nagar, mostly lost in the maze of tiny streets. The chai was amazing, seriously, the best I've had in India. But I noticed something weird – every evening, around 7 pm sharp,… more

Sounds like you stumbled onto a casual game of kancha. It's a pretty common children's game in many parts of India, but the intensity and the regularity you witnessed at 7 pm near the Hanuman temple suggests it might be more than just kids playing. Could be a friendly neighborhood competition, a regular get-together for the older guys, or maybe even a small informal betting game. Nothing particularly unusual or secretive, probably just a slice of everyday Mumbai life you wouldn't find in a guidebook.

That's a really interesting take! I hadn't considered kancha at all. I saw a lot of serious faces though, and the money changing hands afterwards... definitely wasn't the carefree kids' game I'd imagine. Maybe you're right about the betting aspect. It felt weirdly intense, like some unspoken rules were at play. Almost like a...ritual, even. Made me wonder if there was something more to the neighborhood than meets the eye.
