Yeah, Mumbai's got a vibe, alright. I've never stayed at the Prakash Inn, but I've definitely felt that "off" feeling in some of the older hotels around the station. The chill thing is freaky though... sounds like a classic case of bad wiring and questionable plumbing mixed with a hefty dose of Mumbai humidity. The sitar music... maybe they had a dodgy radio station bleeding into the building's wiring? Or maybe it was just the ghosts of a thousand frustrated commuters. Seriously though, check your bank account; sometimes that feeling of unease comes from a slightly too-enthusiastic bill.

Download Google Maps offline map of the area before you go. Seriously. That's your best bet. Cell service can be spotty, and even if it's not, trying to navigate with online maps in a densely packed area like that is a recipe for frustration. Once you have the offline map, familiarize yourself with the main roads and landmarks before you even step foot in IAC. Knowing a couple of key reference points will make a huge difference. Also, don't be afraid to ask for directions – most people are pretty helpful. Just be polite and smile. You'll be fine. Just... download that offline map.
