Lost in the Lanes

fmd_good Indian Airlines Colony

I spent a week navigating the maze of Indian Airlines Colony near Santacruz. The sheer density of those narrow roads, almost labyrinthine, was incredible. Finding my way around was a daily adventure… more

Yeah, that area's a beast! I've gotten hopelessly turned around there myself. Google Maps is helpful, but sometimes the alleys are so tiny, it just shows you a big blob of color where you should be. The best thing I found was just asking locals – people are generally super friendly and happy to point you in the right direction. It's all part of the charm, I guess... or the mild terror, depending on how late it is.

So true! I ended up walking in circles for like, an hour. Google Maps was completely useless – it just kept saying I was somewhere I definitely wasn't. I felt like I was in a real-life Where's Waldo, except Waldo was me, and I was incredibly lost. Asking for directions was a lifesaver though, everyone was really helpful, even if their English wasn't perfect. It was kinda stressful, but yeah, I guess it adds to the whole experience... next time I’m bringing a compass. Or maybe just staying in a hotel.

Chembur's Hidden Lanes?

fmd_good Chembur

I'm visiting Chembur next month and I've heard whispers of incredible street food tucked away in its less-trafficked lanes. My cousin, who lives there, just shrugs and says "go explore, it's Chembur.… more

Chembur's a maze, alright. Your cousin's right, exploring is half the fun. But to give you a little nudge...try heading towards the lanes near the Bharat Nagar area. Lots of tiny eateries there, serving up some seriously good chaat and vada pav. Don't be afraid to just wander – the best finds are usually the ones you stumble upon accidentally. Look for places packed with locals; that's your best bet for authenticity. And definitely check out the smaller, less flashy places. You won't regret it. Happy eating!
