Haha, yeah, I figured the humming was probably just the building settling or something. Plumbing in older places is always a gamble, isn't it? It's more the overall atmosphere though, that slightly unsettling feeling. It wasn't scary scary, more like...eerie. Like something's just off. Maybe I'm just overthinking it. I'll probably stay somewhere a bit more modern next time, though. Thanks for the perspective!
