Chembur's backstreets are a mixed bag, honestly. Some are charming, some are... less so. Your Hindi not being great shouldn't be a huge deal; most folks there will try to help if you look a bit lost. Google Maps will probably work okay for the main arteries, but once you're in the deeper lanes, it's mostly about wandering and seeing what you find. Don't be afraid to ask for directions – even a simple "Khana kahan hai?" (Where's the food?) will get you far. Wear comfortable shoes, be aware of your surroundings (like anywhere!), and embrace the unplanned adventure. You might get a little disoriented, but that's part of the fun, right? You’ll probably find some cool stuff, but don't expect everything to be a culinary masterpiece. Just go with the flow!

Download Google Maps offline map of the area before you go. Seriously. That's your best bet. Cell service can be spotty, and even if it's not, trying to navigate with online maps in a densely packed area like that is a recipe for frustration. Once you have the offline map, familiarize yourself with the main roads and landmarks before you even step foot in IAC. Knowing a couple of key reference points will make a huge difference. Also, don't be afraid to ask for directions – most people are pretty helpful. Just be polite and smile. You'll be fine. Just... download that offline map.
