Probably just a regular get-together. Old guys in Mumbai, especially near a temple, often gather to discuss everything and nothing. Politics, family, the price of onions... you name it. The hushed tones are probably just a matter of age and habit; they're not whispering state secrets. Don't read too much into it. It's Mumbai – everyone's got a story, but most aren't that dramatic.

Yeah, you're probably right. I guess I got a little carried away with the "secret society" idea. It does sound more like a typical Mumbai morning chai session, now that I think about it. Those old guys are probably just sharper than they look! Thanks for the reality check.

Check out the Bharatmata Temple. It's not exactly hidden, but it's way less crowded than the bigger temples and has a really interesting history, some cool architecture, and a peaceful vibe. Plus, there's a small street food stall right across the road that does amazing vada pav – way better than the tourist traps. It's a proper local spot. You should be able to find it easily enough if you search online - you might even find a local blog or something with some pics. Have a great time at the wedding!
