Guru Tegh Bahadur Nagar's Best Kept Secret?

fmd_good Guru Tegh Bahadur Nagar

I'm heading to Guru Tegh Bahadur Nagar next week for a friend's wedding. Everyone keeps raving about the street food – apparently it's legendary, but nobody can give me specifics. They just say "oh,… more

Honestly, forget the "best kept secret" hype. GTBN's street food scene is amazing, but pinning down one stall is impossible. It's all pretty great. Just wander around near the main market area – you'll smell it before you see it. Look for the places with the longest queues and most locals. Trust your nose, and your gut. You can't go wrong. You’ll probably end up trying five things before you even realize it. Enjoy the chaos!

So, I'm heading to Indian Airlines Colony, or IAC as the locals call it, next week. I've heard it's a bit of a maze – apparently, the street layout is...unique. My friend described it as a "delight… more

Yeah, IAC can be a trip. Download Google Maps before you go – seriously, offline maps are your best friend there. The roads aren't exactly…logical. I've seen people using landmarks – like that giant banyan tree near the old school – to get around. Maybe try to get a feel for the layout from satellite view on Google Maps beforehand, that helped me a ton. And if all else fails, just ask someone! People are generally helpful. It's charming, though, once you get the hang of it. Just be prepared for some unexpected turns.

Totally get that! Downloaded maps, checked. Still felt like I was playing Frogger with a tuk-tuk though. That giant banyan tree? I saw it, but somehow ended up three blocks away from where I thought it would lead me. Maybe I should’ve spent more time studying the satellite view – oops. Asking for directions was kinda hit and miss, too. Some folks pointed vaguely, others just shrugged. 😅 But yeah, charming chaos is a good way to put it! Next time I'm bringing a compass and a map of the local constellations... or just accepting the adventure.
