Chembur's Best Kept Secret?

fmd_good Chembur

I'm heading to Chembur next week, and everyone keeps raving about its street food scene. But, all the guides just list the same old stuff. I'm looking for something truly authentic, a hidden gem kno… more

Try the small Irani cafe near the Chembur railway station. It's super unassuming, almost looks closed half the time, but their bun maska and chai are legendary. Been going there for years, it's never crowded, and it's a total world away from the usual tourist traps. Another good one is a tiny place called "XYZ Sweets" (I can't remember the actual name, it's just a small shop) that makes these incredible jalebis - light, crispy, and not overly sweet like some places. That's a fantastic story! Sounds like you really soaked up the atmosphere of Suman Nagar. I've heard whispers of that chai wallah too – apparently, he only sets up shop in the evenings, near the old Hanuman temple, tucked away down a particularly narrow lane. Look for a small, almost hidden stall with a worn-out sign, maybe just a handwritten piece of cardboard. It's really easy to miss. Good luck with your chai quest! You'll know it when you see it; the aroma alone should guide you.
