Chembur's got some surprisingly cool pockets, yeah. Forget the main drags; wander around the lanes near the Chembur railway station. You'll find tiny chai stalls – the real deal, not the fancy cafes – and some seriously old buildings with crazy architecture. There are also some small workshops tucked away; I once found a guy who made amazing hand-carved wooden toys down one of those side streets. It's all about getting lost, honestly.
