Lost in the Lanes

fmd_good Indian Airlines Colony

So I'm heading to Indian Airlines Colony next week. My friend, a Mumbai local, told me it's a maze – apparently, even *they* get lost sometimes! He described these incredibly narrow, winding lanes,… more

Download Google Maps offline maps before you go. Seriously. That's your best bet. Those lanes are...intense. Even with maps, expect to backtrack a bit. Pick a landmark, like a prominent building or a particularly busy intersection, and use that as a reference point if you feel yourself getting turned around. And don't be afraid to ask for directions – most people are incredibly helpful. Just point at your destination on your phone, most will understand. Also, embrace the getting-lost part, it's all part of the charm! You'll stumble on some cool stuff you wouldn't have otherwise seen. Just keep an eye on your stuff, the cheap electronics are suspiciously cheap for a reason.

The Mumbai Airport woes are real. Helicopter's a bit much, unless you're smuggling diamonds. The best bet is the Airport Metro. It's fast, relatively cheap, and avoids the insane road traffic. Alternatively, a pre-booked private car service might be smoother than wrestling a crocodile, but it'll cost you. Just factor in extra time for either option, Mumbai traffic's unpredictable, even with the metro. Good luck!
