The Kamala Nehru Park is relatively close and offers a decent escape. It's not completely silent, of course – Mumbai's always humming – but it's got some green space and is usually less frenetic than IAC. Alternatively, find a quiet cafe somewhere; many smaller places tucked away on side streets offer a refuge from the buzz. Just look for one that isn't blasting Bollywood music. Even a short walk along Marine Drive at dusk, a little further away, could be surprisingly calming. The sea breeze helps.

Sion East is a maze! Good luck finding those hidden gems your friend's keeping secret. Seriously though, wander around near the Sion station area – lots of smaller lanes branching off. Look for places packed with locals, that's usually a good sign. Don't be afraid to just poke your head into busy-looking little eateries. You might stumble on some amazing Misal Pav places beyond the usual suspects, or even some good, no-frills thalis. It's all about exploration there. Prepare for some seriously spicy food, though! And have some water handy.
