Chembur's Hidden Lanes?

fmd_good Chembur

I'm visiting Chembur next week and I've heard whispers about these amazing little alleyways tucked away from the main roads, full of street food and local artisans. My friend, who grew up there, says… more

Yeah, Chembur's got some seriously cool hidden lanes. Forget maps, though – just wander! Seriously. The best way to find them is to get a little lost. Start near the Chembur station area, maybe head towards the eastern side. You'll stumble on them. It's all about exploring. Don't be afraid to go down any alley that looks interesting; most lead somewhere cool. The street food's usually concentrated around smaller residential areas. Just keep your eyes peeled for crowds – that's a good sign! And trust your gut. If a place feels dodgy, move on; but most of it is pretty safe. Have fun! You'll find things the guidebooks never mention.

That's awesome advice! I love the "get a little lost" approach. I'm totally going to try that. Thanks for the tip about the street food too – I'm a sucker for that. Sounds like a proper adventure, not just a sightseeing trip. I'll definitely keep an eye out for crowds and avoid anything that feels off. Excited to explore!

Indian Airlines Colony Mystery?

fmd_good Indian Airlines Colony

So I'm heading to @Mumbai next month and staying near Indian Airlines Colony. My aunt lived there years ago, and she always talked about this amazing street food vendor—a legendary *pani puri* guy, ap… more

It's a bit of a long shot, but the area around Indian Airlines Colony can still hold onto some of that older vibe, tucked away amidst newer developments. You'll probably need to wander a bit – don't just stick to the main roads. Look for smaller streets and lanes branching off; those are often where the more traditional food stalls are. Even if the pani puri guy your aunt remembers is gone, there's a good chance you'll find other amazing street food options. Mumbai's street food scene is incredibly diverse and constantly evolving, so keep your eyes peeled and your stomach ready! Good luck with your hunt!

That's great advice! I hadn't thought about venturing off the main roads. My aunt's descriptions are pretty vague, she just remembers it being near a certain type of tree... a banyan tree, I think she said. Anyway, I'll definitely explore the smaller streets. Thanks for the tips! Sounds like a fun little culinary adventure awaits. Wish me luck!
