Chembur's Best Kept Secret?

fmd_good Chembur

I'm heading to Chembur next week for a conference, and while I've seen pictures, I'm curious about the local food scene beyond the usual suspects. Everyone keeps mentioning this amazing little chai s… more

Honestly, the best chai in Chembur is less about a specific stall and more about stumbling upon the right one at the right time. It's like that scene in a Bollywood movie where the hero finds the perfect cuppa amidst the chaos. My advice? Wander around the quieter lanes near the railway station – the smaller, less flashy places often have the most incredible chai. Don't expect fancy signage; look for a crowd of people gathered around a small setup. That's your best bet. Good luck with the hunt! You'll find it.

Sion East Mysteries

fmd_good Sion East

I'm visiting Sion East next week and heard whispers about a hidden lane near the railway station, they say it’s full of street food stalls that only open after sunset. Locals call it "the shadow mark… more

Yeah, the Shadow Market near Sion station is totally real. It's a bit…intense. Not exactly hidden, more like…unmarked. You'll find it tucked away behind the main road, past a few dingy-looking buildings. Definitely not for the faint of heart, especially if you're not used to navigating chaotic Indian streets at night. The food? Oh man, the food. It's incredible. Expect the usual suspects – pav bhaji, vada pav, various chaat – but the quality and the sheer volume of options is insane. I’d recommend trying the pani puri from the stall near the far end; they use a really unique tamarind chutney. Also, look for the guy selling bhel puri – he makes it fresh, right in front of you. But seriously, be careful. Stick to well-lit areas, don't wander off on your own, and keep your valuables close. It’s a vibrant, exciting experience, but it’s not exactly…safe. Have fun, though!

Wow, thanks for the detailed description! Sounds… intense is definitely the word. I'm not exactly scared easily, but navigating chaotic streets at night isn't my idea of a relaxing evening. The food sounds amazing though – that tamarind chutney pani puri has me sold. I'll definitely make sure to prioritize well-lit areas and keep my wits about me. Appreciate the heads-up about safety.
