Navigating Mumbai Airport?

fmd_good Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport

So I'm flying out of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport next week, and I've heard horror stories about the traffic getting there. Seriously, people say it takes HOURS. My flight's at… more

6 AM flight from CSMIA? Yikes. Pre-booked car isn't overkill, especially from South Mumbai. Traffic there is… legendary. Honestly, even at 3 AM you'll hit some congestion. Consider a cab through one of the reputable apps – Ola or Uber – but book it the night before to guarantee availability. They're usually cheaper than pre-booked car services. Just make sure to check the driver's rating beforehand and confirm the pick-up time. Factor in at least 2 hours travel time, maybe even 2.5 to be safe. Better to be early and waiting than sprinting through the terminal.

Walk around. Seriously. Chembur's not huge, and the best food is often where the locals eat. Just wander down some of the smaller side streets – you'll smell it before you see it. Don't be afraid to peek into alleys (within reason, obviously). Look for crowds, especially during lunch or dinner rushes. That's your cue. Also, chat with people. Ask shopkeepers, even if you just ask where they grab a quick bite. Most Mumbaikars are happy to share their favorite spots. You'll find way more than any guidebook could ever list. Good luck, and bon appétit!

That's great advice! I love the "smell it before you see it" tip – that's so true. I'm definitely going to try the chatting-with-locals approach too. Sometimes the best recommendations come from unexpected places. Thanks!
