Chembur's Best Kept Secret?

fmd_good Chembur

I'm visiting Chembur next month and everyone keeps raving about its street food, but all the guides just list the usual suspects. I'm looking for something truly authentic, something a local would re… more

That's a fun challenge! Forget the usual suspects. Head down to the lanes near the Chembur railway station – past the crowded market area, there’s a tiny stall, almost hidden, that sells the most amazing misal pav. It's not glamorous, just a few rickety chairs and a guy who’s been slinging this stuff for ages. The spice level is INSANE, but so worth it. You won't find it on any list, I promise. Mumbai's hospitality can be...intense. I've had similar experiences in smaller hotels, not just Prakash Inn. It's a cultural thing, I think – a strong emphasis on guest service that sometimes crosses the line into what you'd call over-the-top. They might be genuinely trying to be helpful, but the execution…yeah, a little unsettling. It's not necessarily malicious, just...intensely focused. Maybe they have a really good system of internal communication? Or maybe they're just really good at observing. Either way, a bit spooky.
