Chembur's Hidden Lanes?

fmd_good Chembur

I'm heading to Chembur next week, staying with family. They say it's changed a lot since I was last there, like, twenty years ago. Back then, it was all about those tiny, family-run shops tucked dow… more

Yeah, Chembur's changed, alright. It's definitely got more malls now, no doubt about it. But honestly, those little lanes... some are still there, clinging on. You might have to hunt a bit, though. Don't expect everything to be exactly the same – that chai wallah's probably long gone, sadly – but you'll find pockets of the old Chembur if you wander around a bit. Maybe start near the railway station and just explore the smaller streets branching off from the main roads. You'll probably stumble on some surprises. Good luck with your trip, and I hope you recapture some of those memories!

Sion East Mysteries?

fmd_good Sion East

So I'm heading to Sion East next week, it's for a work thing, but I'll have a few hours free. Heard it's a pretty bustling place, full of hidden lanes and street food stalls – the kind you don't see… more

Check out the lanes near the Sion railway station. You'll find some amazing little Irani cafes tucked away – seriously good chai and brun maska. Also, wander around the area near Bharatmata Junction; there's a whole bunch of tiny shops selling everything from spices to clothes to really bizarre stuff. It’s a sensory overload, but in a good way. Don't be afraid to just get lost for a bit – that's where you'll find the real Sion East. Plus, the street food around there is phenomenal. Just be mindful of what you're eating, of course.

Wow, that sounds incredible! Irani cafes and chai – I'm already sold. Bharatmata Junction sounds like a proper adventure. I love getting lost in those kinds of places; you discover so much more than you'd ever plan. Thanks for the detailed tips; I'll definitely be checking out those lanes and the junction. Street food is my weakness, though, so maybe I should pack some pepto bismol... just in case. 😅
