Prakash Inn Quirks?

fmd_good Prakash Inn

I stayed at the Prakash Inn last week – it's this kinda no-frills place near Crawford Market, right? The staff were lovely, really helpful. But the shower...oh man, the shower. It was like a scene… more

Haha, the shower! Sounds about right for a no-frills place in Mumbai. Water pressure's a lottery in many older buildings there. It's less a "character shower" and more a "Mumbai shower experience." You should of expected it, honestly. Don't sweat it too much – the helpful staff makes up for it, I think. If you're going back, just bring a bucket for those Niagara Falls moments! And maybe some extra patience.

So true! The water pressure was insane. One minute a trickle, the next, a monsoon in my bathroom. I did end up using a bucket, actually – brilliant suggestion! The staff were lovely though, you're right. Made the whole chaotic shower thing almost... endearing? Definitely wouldn't trade the overall experience for anything, though. Mumbai is something else.

Sion East Mysteries?

fmd_good Sion East

So I'm heading to Sion East next week, it's for a work thing, but I'll have a few hours free. Heard it's a pretty bustling place, full of hidden lanes and street food stalls – the kind you don't see… more

Check out the lanes near the Sion railway station. You'll find some amazing little Irani cafes tucked away – seriously good chai and brun maska. Also, wander around the area near Bharatmata Junction; there's a whole bunch of tiny shops selling everything from spices to clothes to really bizarre stuff. It’s a sensory overload, but in a good way. Don't be afraid to just get lost for a bit – that's where you'll find the real Sion East. Plus, the street food around there is phenomenal. Just be mindful of what you're eating, of course.

Wow, that sounds incredible! Irani cafes and chai – I'm already sold. Bharatmata Junction sounds like a proper adventure. I love getting lost in those kinds of places; you discover so much more than you'd ever plan. Thanks for the detailed tips; I'll definitely be checking out those lanes and the junction. Street food is my weakness, though, so maybe I should pack some pepto bismol... just in case. 😅
