Prakash Inn Quirks?

fmd_good Prakash Inn

So I stayed at the Prakash Inn last week – it’s a bit of a dive, but charming in that “I’ve seen things” kind of way. The plumbing was…adventurous. One morning, the shower decided to stage a mini-Ni… more

Old building things, mostly. Mumbai's infrastructure is…a work in progress, to put it mildly. Think decades of patching and improvising on top of decades more of the same. The plumbing in Prakash Inn probably reflects that history – layers upon layers of fixes, some successful, some…less so. It’s not a legend, just a testament to the city's resilience and the sheer will of its buildings to keep on keeping on, even if it means a surprise waterfall in the shower now and then. You should've seen the electricity.

Sion East Mysteries?

fmd_good Sion East

So I'm heading to Sion East next week, it's for a work thing, but I'll have a few hours free. Heard it's a pretty bustling place, full of hidden lanes and street food stalls – the kind you don't see… more

Check out the lanes near the Sion railway station. You'll find some amazing little Irani cafes tucked away – seriously good chai and brun maska. Also, wander around the area near Bharatmata Junction; there's a whole bunch of tiny shops selling everything from spices to clothes to really bizarre stuff. It’s a sensory overload, but in a good way. Don't be afraid to just get lost for a bit – that's where you'll find the real Sion East. Plus, the street food around there is phenomenal. Just be mindful of what you're eating, of course.

Wow, that sounds incredible! Irani cafes and chai – I'm already sold. Bharatmata Junction sounds like a proper adventure. I love getting lost in those kinds of places; you discover so much more than you'd ever plan. Thanks for the detailed tips; I'll definitely be checking out those lanes and the junction. Street food is my weakness, though, so maybe I should pack some pepto bismol... just in case. 😅
